  • PRP - or platelet-rich plasma, is a component derived from whole blood that contains growth factors such as TGF-beta, PDGF-AB, bFGF, IGF, VEGF and EGF - it also contains the bioactive proteins globulin, albumin and fibrinogen along with a wide spectrum of nutrients, vitamins, hormones and electrolytes.

  • PRP is autologous, which means it contains substances that come directly from the client’s own body.

  • PRP decreases inflammation and increases the blood supply to the treated hair follicle - increasing the thickness of the hair shaft and reversing androgenetic alopecia - or hair loss, for men and women.

  • PRP can be used to treat the hair follicles in the scalp or beard areas to improve follicle health and density.

  • A small quantity of blood is drawn, typically from the arm, and put into a centrifuge (a machine that spins rapidly to separate fluids of different densities). After about 5-10 minutes in the centrifuge, the blood sample will have separated into three layers - platelet-poor plasma, platelet-rich plasma and red blood cells - the highly concentrated platelet rich plasma is then drawn into a pre-assembled syringe, with a needle that has an appropriate gauge and length for the proposed treatment areas.

After the solution is prepared, it will be injected into the areas that require increased hair growth. Injections take a few minutes to administer and are mildly uncomfortable as they are performed using an ultra-fine needle.

It will take three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart to achieve optimum results. Once this has been achieved, a subsequent appointment will only be required once every four months.
Alternatively, if you find blood draws difficult - we also have an injectable peptide complex available on request. Our injectable peptide complex can be used as a stand-alone treatment or to complement PRP treatments and further enhance results.
